Home Ed and work part time?

Just that - is it possible? I work from home anyway, part time, in a flexible role. Compatible with home Ed?

How old are the children? Older children who can self-study for a good chunk of the day, it might be possible. Younger children, I would imagine it would be awful (look at how people found it during lockdowns!)

You could work evenings and weekends assuming you have a partner who works 9-5.

We did this for a while (without the home ed). DH went to work 9-5ish and I worked evenings and weekends. Bit sad though as I never saw DH

I have. I used to do some work in the morning then start schooling after morning tea. I also used to do some work when my youngest napped. I also had an aupair come once a week for a while.
It is tricky and yo7 need to be organised.

Well it depends on age of rhe kids, and rhe hours worked, as in their education comes first.

Not only is it possible, but most of the parents I know who home educate do actually work part-time.

Because home ed is so efficient compared with school, there is not likely to be an impact on the kids' education. They aren't sat at the dining table 9-3 Monday to Friday!!

If you have younger children, the challenge is really all about childcare, even if you work from home. Of course, most young kids will not sit or play quietly for any length of time while you work.

An au pair or childminder might be an option. I used to use CMs who home educated their own kids, which was a great solution for us. My kid got to play with the CM's children and go to home ed activities with them while I worked. When older, my own child in turn worked as an occasional babysitter for a home educating single mum, looking after the kids in their own home or ferrying them to their activities on the bus. Or if your working times are flexible, you could use an "after school club" from say 3-6pm. Many are run by external providers, so even if they take place on school premises, they may accept children who don't attend the school.

I do now mine are a little older, though my work meetings are either very early or evenings. The rest is something I can do anytime and for round other things.

I’m lucky as mine is super flexible, but I see some friends have it much harder and it’s tough going. I think it really depends on the nature of the job
