Hi
My DD is about to finish 6th form college. She's has ambitions to go to drama school and not unsurprisingly hasn't managed to get in this year. While she applies again next year she wants to do English Lit A level in a year so she has better access to some standard Uni courses. I heard on another forum that NEC (national extension college) was good but know little about it apart from the website.
Do any of you lovely knowledgeable home educators have any advice regarding NEC or could recommend any other online college. It's important she can do a full A level in a year and preferably start June/July rather than wait til September.

English Literature A level has coursework or in modern speak NEA (non-examined assessments). So whoever you use as a course provider you need to make sure there is a relationship between the provider and the exam centre you intend to use to ensure the NEA is properly handled.

I've no experience of using them but NEC are a very established company and comments on them are usually positive (I have heard no horror stories that spring to mind). They would be who I would look at first if doing A levels with NEAs.

An alternative to traditional A level would be Cambridge International A level. That doesn't have an NEA so could be self-studied from books if you preferred. Would just need to arrange the exams which you'll need to anyway.
