DD 13 serious MH issues - home school questions

Hi
I really need advice. My DD is year 8, she's had tics and anxiety for a few years and seems social anxiety too. She has two great friends thank goodness.
Literally out of the blue she's suddenly talking about suicide, she's self harming, and in crisis says she can't keep herself safe. These pass. We've spoken to a CAMHS nurse who has sorted an urgent referral out, her thoughts are DD is having an existential crisis. The biggest thing for DD is Sxhool.
She's already seen a paediatrician who referred her to a tic and anxiety clinic so that'll be summertime. However after talking to the CAMHS nurse yesterday I'm going to push for school / LA help.

Has anyone else been through this? What can we expect?

This has literally come out of the blue so no clues about anything

Hi, have you contacted your LA medical needs team? They should be able to offer advise and support e.g. school supplying work if she is unable to attend school for short periods of time ? If you decide to de register her from school and home school her then all her education is your responsibility the LA does not supply school work etc for home educating children, there is also no funding to help support you with home education.

You can request flexi-schooling (i.e. part time attendance) but it's at the headteacher's discretion.
A lot of local home-ed groups organise through facebook. It would be worth finding your local groups and joining to see what's on in your local area before you make a decision
There are plenty of online providers which cover full national curriculum e.g. net-school, myonlineschooling. You might expect to pay 1.5k per term for a full subject range at KS3. Or you can do some subjects on your own and only look for outside provision where you feel you need it. A long list of providers here: www.tutorsandexams.uk/our-learning-partners/
With most online schools there's a bit of social interaction but you only have to go on camera/mic if you want to. It might suit in your situation.

Thank you @HomeEd2021
Apparently the pastoral head will talk with the deputy head who makes those decisions - fingers crossed!

We have just withdrawn dd from school due to huge issues with anxiety.
We did try a part time timetable but the effort of going in an hour a day was really impacting her mental health in a massive way.

Since withdrawing her, her mood is lifting, anxiety is more manageable and all our lives are better for it. School did everything they could to support her.

You could ask for EOTAS (home tutors) or specialist provision for which she would need EHCP. You can apply for EHCP yourself. We personally decided that we would rather take responsibility for her education as we could then tailor it to her and sit exams in stages etc rather than all in y11.

She is starting to engage with the world outside again and to socialise which she wasn’t able to do while her anxiety was so high due to trying to hard to attend school.

It’s slow progress but definite improvements.
