Inspirational home school books

Hi
I’m fairly new to home schooling and we did it as my daughter was bullied at school so not for ideological reasons. But now we are doing it I want to try to make the most of it and I’m just looking for some books to help inspire me and give me some tips on how to do it well.

I’ve read a couple which helped me see home schooling as a very positive opportunity (rather than a last resort) the brave learner was very good and the first half of wild and free was good too. I also got some useful ideas (regarding nature study and reading aloud really good books to your child each day - even when they are old enough to read themselves) from a literary education (even though it was more of a prescriptive ‘how to’ rather than an inspirational book I found it helpful).

But I’ve just read the John holt book of home schooling- which was a bit of a disappointment (as it focused more on why school is so bad and the political/legal issues around home schooling in America and it was outdated).

So I guess what I want is more books like the brave learner - (up to date accounts of home education which will give me a few ideas to help me enjoy this time with my daughter and give her a really truly useful education and how I can help my daughter find her passion and also inspire me on bad days when my son is sick and my daughter’s not interested (I know this is asking a lot from a book Smile) … any suggestions?

Peter Grey's Free To Learn is my favourite so far - he covers the problems with modern schooling but also provides evidence-based solutions. I found it absolutely inspiring. (I also enjoyed Wild + Free and Brave Learner too.) I've got a pile in the sleeping child's room, but Grey is definitely top of the list!

Thank you, I’ve added that to my basket.

I’ve just read ‘sage homeschooling- wild and free’ and the author quotes that book. Sage home schooling is about unschooling - or just facilitating child led projects - which sounds wonderful in theory and is hopefully where We are headed - We just need time to adjust

I really enjoyed The Brave Learner by Julie Bogart
