disgruntled parent and teacher

I am an experienced primary school teacher and a parent of three children and feel frustrated with both sides of the education coin.
I feel that my children are not meeting their potential in state school and , as a teacher I am stretched to the extent that its impossible to meet all the needs of all the children in a class of 30. I am therefore considering 'opting out' and establishing a small home school for a few primary aged children. I am just putting my thoughts out there to see if it is a viable solution to a situation many of us seem to find ourselves in.

I know a few ex-teachers who now HE, they often say that after their experience of teaching they would never put their own kids in school.
You are in a fantastic position to be able to HE, with more knowledge and experience and confidence than the majority of us that 'opt out'.
I was terrified when I started a year ago to HE my dds 4 and 8, but a year later my only regret is I didn't do it sooner.
It is indeed a very viable option.
A lot of HE rs use extra help for certain subjects and group together to pay someone (as we are doing with French).
Go for it and good luck!

Hello lorry1

I know there are instances where this happens where home ed parents get together like this and I think that the Government is presently attempting to bring them into the main stream where they would need to be inspected by Ofsted.

There is a Government consultation about what organisations should be defined as a small school on this at the moment;
www.dcsf.gov.uk/consultations/conDetails.cfm?consultationId=1502
