Anyone know any good maths textbooks?

My son has severe asthma and is likely to be shielded for some time. I’m new to homeschooling. The school are sending home exercises with no explanations. Which is no good for us as he has SEN and is two years behind, and I can’t remember much of what I learnt at school. What I’m looking for is primary maths textbooks with both lessons and exercises to work through to jog my memory as much as teaching him lol

Thanks in advance!

Oh with an answer book, too, so I know if I’m wrong before attempting to teach him!

Usborne have a my first and junior maths dictionary, which might be useful to buy as a reference book alongside a workbook. I know most, if not all CGP books come with the answers.

There's a website called World of Books, sorry I can't link on my phone, which does good text books and also general books too.

What year is he and what year is he working at?

Mumdiva99 · 06/05/2020 00:15

I was going to say how old? As we have Usbourne books, Carol Vorderman books, we've downloaded twinkle resources etc Mine are primary school age and prefer to be given 1page to work off than a book - psychological I think as feels less daunting.

What year is he in? Target Maths is brilliant, not expensive and you can get a separate answer book. I use it lots in year 6 but you can get it for all year groups.

CGP question books are also brilliant, you can get revision books to go with them which help to explain concepts. They are really helpful, you could give them a ring and explain what you are looking for. The website is also very extensive.

Schofield & Sims Are excellent
For a full curriculum I can recommend Life of Fred (short stories minimal reps) & Beast Academy (comic book instruction with full & interesting practice books) my children love both but Fred is better when younger & requires more adult input (we used to do it I. The garden - they’d write answers in chalk Grin) BA is amazing at giving real understanding of the maths & teaches different techniques.

Khan Academy is fab for video explanations of you’re getting stuck
