Could I homeschool instead after poor school experiences?

Does anyone have any advice on homeschooling?
I am not happy with my childrens local school it has high levels of bullying and my children complain alot that class has to be stopped because someones behaviour is interrupting learning, this can be behaviour from bad language to violence throwing chairs ripping up the childrens class work standing on tables. They have even had extra playtimes because of this where they need to keep the kids out of the classroom whilst a child is loosing their temper in the classroom.
This also happened at 2 previous schools they were at. The 2nd one not quite as bad and their learning and interest in learning came along much better but we had to move away so had to leave that school unfortunately.

So I am stuck in a predicament with no spaces in our town where schools are oversubscribed I am looking into homeschooling.
Lessons being interrupted seems to be a common thing these days and its made me wonder how much learning they actually do. The bullying also worries me and I feel sick after sending my child into school today after some really awful bullying he is having to deal with.
Could I do it myself?

Hi there all,

We're moving this over to home education at OP's request.
