Hi,

For many different reasons I am looking into homeschool my 14 yr old dd.

I was just looking into advice for any websites used to help or worksheets or experiences that other people have had. I still have some research to do and have a meeting with school.

Have you looked at the Home Ed wiki? Lots of info there for each subject. he-exams.wikia.com/wiki/English

I echo AspergersMum's advice, but would say - start with the HE Exams Wiki Quick Start Guide as it's a gentle intro to the huge topic of home-ed exams. The FAQ may answer the questions you have at this stage.

Do be careful before deregistering; it may be possible to get more help from the LA if you keep your child on the school roll but negotiate reduced attendance or home tuition. The LA may have other options for you, too - eg in our area there is a brilliant Pupil Referral Unit for students with anxiety and it's a real haven, completely different from the image of PRUs that most people have. While your child is still enrolled at a school, the school and the LA have a duty of care towards them. We all know it doesn't always seem like that, but do explore all options before deregistering as sometimes you can appeal, get help from parent support groups, etc, and get more help than you realised was available. However, once you deregister, you're on your own and are not entitled to LA help until you apply to a school again, pretty much. It may be that home education will be the right step for you and that deregistration will make that simpler - but just ensure you're clear about all options open to you irst.
