Home education in Yorkshire

My DS is going to be ready for secondary school in a couple of years and I have begun to research the different options open to him. He is currently doing ok in Primary School but because I have a lot of education experience I know that home education is a real option. I have read a lot of very inspiring accounts of successful home educators. Of course there are always positives and negatives and I'm keeping an open mind. When we decide it's so important that he is happy and comfortable and he is very much a part of this decision. Personal experience has shown me that Primary school's generally provide a nurturing more personalized learning whereas Secondaries often leave children lost, bored and unable to be more independent in their learning. I myself see a huge deterioration in attitude and motivation from Year 7 to Year 11, there are always exceptions but I have worked in education for many years and the constant peer pressure, social media addiction and lack of more in depth cross curricular learning and real life experience really limits many young people. On the other hand I cannot deny there have been many positive experiences and I don't expect to be everything to my son, he needs friendship and fun too! So I would like to start to build up a network to help us along the way! Looking forward to your responses.
