Does anyone have experience with this? I have to work 3 days but my DD has had such a truly rough time at school for the past few years I am considering applying to homeschool 2 days a week.

I know the school can say no, just didn't know if anyone actually does this.

As far as I am aware, flexi schooling used to be an option.

It is up to the school, and I do think it was a good option to have.

However, Micheal Gove, changed the rules on how children are marked in on the register if flexi schooled, and instead mark as absent and it affects the schools stats.

So, I’m not sure if schools are too happy with that. But, I’d say it’s well worth finding out.

Good luck.

gluteus is right. Flexischooling is at the head's discretion but it now affects their attendance figures, so usually they aren't keen.

Would the head acknowledge that your dd has had an awful time at school? Is she sufficiently stressed that there might be medical grounds for a reduced timetable? Mind you, such an arrangement may result in constant pressure on you to work toward getting her back full-time.

Have you considered full-time home education using some form of childcare to cover your work days? Educationally, HE is so much more efficient than school that you don't need your daughter to be educated at the childcare setting; you can provide an education on the days when she is with you. You could use a childminder, for example. If you are eligible for the childcare element of Tax Credits, this will pay part of the cost.
