Home education and A-levels

My ds is 17 and suffers with anxiety around school and so we’ve made the decision to withdraw him. He is really keen to study for Alevels at home but I really need advice about where to start.
Are there any online programs we can follow and how do we go about him sitting the actual exams?
I’d be really grateful for any advice

Hi Maggie,

I don't know much about the subject but I do know that this wiki is popular: he-exams.wikia.com/wiki/HE_Exams_Wiki . You'll find there a link to a big Yahoo group, and I think there might be a Facebook group too. Most of those people will be discussing GCSEs, because many young people do those through home education and then go on to college for A levels. However, some do A levels at home.

Good luck with it!

Hi OP. Did you get anywhere with this - we’re in a similar situation

im pretty sure some of the online schools do A level classes

Interhigh definitely does, and cambridgehighschoolonline

If hes really self motivated and good at self directed study, then there is cloudlearn which is cheaper and just provides the course materials and someone to mark assignments, but they dont have much actual tutor support other than that (we tried it for a GCSE and have recently given it up as my son needs more support and structure) but i imagine it must work for some kids

Oh yes, and there's NEC too isn't there?
