Teaching phonics recommendations- 8 year old

For various reasons, my year 3 son has missed out on a good foundation in synthetic phonics - he can actually read very well - is keeping up with his year level - but his spelling is very poor. I think - due to his bad behaviour at the time (undiagnosed ADHD & ASD) - he missed those key years in reception and year one where the students focused on phonics. Could anyone please suggest a reading program that I can work with him at home to help him catch up? The school uses the read, write, inc program.

Tbh if he can read and the problem is spelling I don't think phonic is the answer.
Fwiw many schools that focus on phonics leave spelling to later ime

Thanks Stealth. So some sort of basic spelling program then? His memory is very good so I think that's why he can read so well - he has memorised the words in a 'Dick and Jane' book way - but it hasn't translated into his spelling.

I think there are year appropriate spelling lists on the Internet. Letter fridge magnets making testing slightly more fun.

Yes there are, you're right. My (NT) Daughter (now in year One) has made such headway with phonics (her spelling list is more difficult than my son's), that I really thought that was the only way forward. Maybe I just start back with the reception spelling words and work up from there. Thanks
