I have so many questions! I'm finding most of it out by myself, but I still have some I can't sort out.
Long story short; my daughter is currently Code B with Gcses a few weeks away and she is planning on doing A levels via the NEC next year. Science had been a particular problem for her, as there have been some MAJOR issues with science staff that I have been unable to resolve, so we have decided to drop the three sciences and focus on the rest of the subjects instead. She told me last night that she wants to teach herself GCSE physicd , chemistry, and biology once school is out, and I think bloody good for her! I'm not sure how she should!d go about it though; GCSE or iGCSE, and where to find the best free autonomous learning resources. She has been learning edexcel so far and has the textbooks so would make sense to continue with that board if possible, although there is no way she will wait to use their online Activelearn stuff as she found it worse than useless.

I'll check out the yahoo exam thingamijig, but thought I'd pick your brains too!

As an aside, we both can't wait for her to finished school do she can start working at her own pace and learning in her own style (and without having to deal with awful teachers. If all the teachers were Ad good as the brilliant ones, she might have been OK with staying at school, but it seems some teaching staff actually get a kick out of trying to stop kids succeeding)

You'll need to contact the exam boards - she may be able to do the October igcse sitting & get them out of the way as an independent candidate. Or she could do science gcse at college as a one year course?

Thanks for that bochead, it does look like from what you have said that iGCSEs are the way to go, although she has no interest in doing these at a school/college environment and wants to take her time over them and take the pressure off (no rush for October :) ) Will get her to look further into iGCSEs now instead of actual GCSEs
