At what age does the LA cease to make informal inquiries?

Just that my home educated DC is year 11, doing her GCSEs. Continuing home ed. in September and starting A' Level.
I'm suppose I'm also asking at what age education is compulsory and if the LA will still be requesting visits and/or reports and updates.

End of compulsory school age is something like third Friday in June of Y11 or some such, isn't it? After that you are fine.

The Raising of the Participation Age imposed a duty on young people (NOT upon their parents) to continue in education or training. The government has said that for the time being at least, young people will not be criminalised if they do not comply.

However, confirming that a young person is continuing in education may be convenient for claiming benefits, e.g. child benefit. LAs are also likely to ask for information on whether/how a young person is complying so they can report the statistics back to the government. Fiona has info on it here: edyourself.org/articles/leavingage.php

This document confirms that the LA's home ed team shouldn't be trying to monitor elective home education beyond the end of Y11: tinyurl.com/homeeducationRPA See section 8:

"For young people who are being home educated, no hourly requirement of
education applies: the amount and content of that education is at the discretion of the home educator. In most circumstances it will be the young person themselves who states that they are home-educated. If the authority believes there is some doubt in the matter they may wish to seek confirmation of this from the parent or guardian, but no on-going monitoring of the education is required."
