Can an HE child get a school child's bus pass?

Just wondered if there was a precedent for this. Our local bus company in birmingham advertises 'less than £5 per week' for a school child to have a bus pass when paying by direct debit, which includes weekends; not sure about school holidays. We don't use the bus all that much at the moment but may do in the future . Do children always have to apply for their bus pass through their school? DD is HE and just turned five so need to start getting her her own bus ticket.
Thanks

Why not ask your local bus company, the rules are probably different up and down the country.

In Brighton, you don't apply through the school.

Yes I will ask them. I guess an application for a child's pass is just like any other. Ta

Ds has a bus pass that allows him to buy an all-day ticket for (I think) £1.20 with no time restrictions. It's only valid within our own transport area though. We applied ourselves so it's worth asking.

As others have said it depends where you are. Here in Sheffield it's child fare (70p any journey) till 16 then you need to prove they are still in education. (They need proof of age after age 11)

For 16+ I just went to the South Yorkshire Transport Office and filled out a form saying I was my child's teacher and he was educated full time post-16.

I believe it depends on the bus company and on how much the council subsidises the service.

Hi I'm in Brum and I don't think the bus pas application has anything to do with school untill post 16 when you have to get a code to sertify the child is in full time education still.

Oh right thanks for that. I guess it's just a child's bus pass is a child's bus pass, without going into where they're educated, which is how it should be.
