Oh, poor thing. And WELL DONE YOU for getting her out of there. She will never forget that you stood up for her at the crucial moment.

I'd treat this as the beginning of an extended summer holiday, during which you help her rebuild her confidence, and you both do some reading and thinking about what she'd like to do. The first book on your list needs to be The Teenage Liberation Handbook: How to Quit School and Get a Life.

There are email lists to support you if you are going down the GCSE route - other people will be along to give you links and advice about that sort of thing (mine are all younger so I don't know much about how that stage pans out for people!)

And find out what your local home education scene is like - there might be local meet ups, or there might be families with younger children where your daughter can hang out and play with little kids, and you can drink tea with the Mum and pick her brains about ways of home educating :)

Thank you now going to order the book and look forward to the links to follow up with

Hi, well done you. I second everything ommmward said. There is a really good exam support group - groups.yahoo.com/group/HE-Exams-GCSE-A_AS_Levels-OU-Others/ , where people seem very knowledgeable and helpful.
My children are also younger, but we know older home ed. children - which gives me confidence for the future. Some people do GCSEs with local home ed groups (where parents have clubbed together to get a tutor), some just get the books and do them and some people use on-line tutoring or schools.
Sounds like you both need some time to recover though. If you are in London I can send some details of mailing lists for activities/ meet ups etc.

Hello OP.

I have no experience of the bullying side but know you have done the right thing.
I think whatever the reason you need time to adjust to life outside the classroom and believe from listening to folk on here, you need longer if there have been issues at school.
I wish you and your dd luck and hope that it works out for you.
When you are ready to begin or need help and support there are some fantastic experienced H.edders on here, just ask whatever you want and somebody will help you.
