Problems with Education Otherwise?

I've name changed for anonymity.

I've just joined EO. It's taken three months to receive my pack. And the membership cards and truancy card (£1 each) are just printed on flimsy pieces of A4 paper for me to cut out.
I realise it must be run by volunteers, but I'm not very impressed.

Is there another national group which might be worth joining too?

I was a member of EO in the late 80s/90s - now HEing in Scotland so don't know much about the current set-up. But I'm assuming it's still a voluntary organisation, and if they're struggling maybe more people should be volunteering?

Agree, EO was more important politically in the late 80s/early 90s, (I was living in Leeds at the time, there were some awful incidents back then with LA officers dragging children to school against their will, etc.). But I for one wouldn't be too complacent about the current situation, EO might very well be needed again in the not too distant future.

Here in Scotland, HE families have been coming under a lot of pressure in recent years, with LAs demanding more and more info from families and in some cases behaving outside the law with regards to HE. Things are definitely reversing here. It's more than possible it might happen in England too and then you'll really need EO.

What's the situation with EO now? Their forum appears to be very quiet indeed. Facebook page not updated since 2015.I agree back in the day (80s/90s) they were marvellous and first port of call when we first started to HE.

Where do people go now for support? It seems to be ad hoc and local HE community groups (fine job some of them are doing) on Facebook and the like.
