Oh. dear, finding it difficult to know what to say/do to communicate the idea of H.ed to dd. I have just given her a scenario that schools are to close because of government cuts and all children have to be taught at home by parent/s. Maybe not such a good idea, but it seemed better than just coming out with your dad and I are considering H.e. So far she has written, wouldn't want to be taught by parents and asked me how to spell activities. Does anybody know any child friendly info I could give her that wouldn't be obvious we have been considering this without speaking to her. I am trying to feel her response atm as dh and I are still undecided. I want to do it now so that if we go ahead she can complete the school year and say goodbye to her school properly.

It's up to you obviously, but I wouldn't pussyfoot around with my children.
We had a family meeting, and explained our thinking -putting the reasons forward and asked what they thought.
Everyone's views were equally considered, it was their education/lives we were talking about.

I think you need to be truthful to her.
How old is she?

Juule, she is 8. Iv'e done it, told her about other children who are H.e. Asked what she thought, discussed it and I have told her to ask questions if she wants etc. Dh won't be home till tomorrow and we weren't going to say anything until we had decided what to do.
She loves the idea and asked if she could start on monday as she is shattered after her jubilee party today.
Our older dcs, post school age are less impressed and think it is a bad suggestion. Maybe, hopefully they may come round to the idea when they understand more. It doesn't directly involve them anyway as they are on their way to their own life.

We tok my son out of school before he was 6. We were totally honest with him and gave him the pros and cons of home ed. He was totally up for it. There is no point in being less than honest with her. I would also tell her that if she was unhappy being home edded that she would be able to return to school.

Wolves, brilliant hadn't thought of that. I guess I'm thinking this has got to work or I've failed. Of course she could go back.
I did feel a bit wonkey about it all today because on paper it looks like we'd be fools to take her out but I'm sure its for the right reasons.
