Not starting officially until July but the first tutor is coming over on Friday - Latin and Greek - so its feeling more and more official! Now to just sort out the other subjects! Confused

Congratulations!! Hope your son likes the tutor. A few years ago, a friend of mine had a home educated son the same age as yours who was very averse to any sort of formal instruction but he nevertheless got on exceptionally well with his Latin tutor. Apparently the lad lost interest in Latin but carried on with the tutor anyway because he just liked having someone outside the family to bounce ideas off. I think they ended up doing some English composition and chatting at length about current affairs and philosophy.

Oh, I was just thinking about you - you said you are in Herts, right, and looking for social opportunities for secondary age? I have a friend with a teenaged daughter who is mad keen on arranging home ed activities at the Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead. She has negotiated some very good discounts for home ed kids. I'll send you a message in case you want to swap email addresses with her.
