Taken my dd off roll

Hi,

I have officially taken my dd (12) off roll so that she can be educated at home.

So, now the fun begins!

I work part time 9-12.30 5 days a week.

Can anyone offer mr any advice or ideas on getting started? Any useful websites or groups I can get support from?

Thanks :)

I can't offer advice but I can offer congratulations! I hope you and DD have a lovely time. Oh educationotherwise is a good site too!

Mary, thanks so much! It was a big decision to make, and I'm really worried I'm going to let my dd down Sad

Will try education otherwise, thank you x

Hello mumofjust1
I'd say firstly relax and enjoy your new freedoms!
Don't rush out and buy workbooks-almost all of us here have done just that in our first few days and weeks of home educating, only to see them languishing unused on the shelf for years to come!
take time to find out how home education is going to work for your family!

There is a thread about websites and one about books on home ed, that I'll bump for you-also one about finding home educators local to you-something I'd strongly recommend!

There's also a mumsnet home education Facebook page we can chat there too if you do FB!

I just requested to join the fb group. Profile pic of a couple of plaits :)

Thanks Julie, your post was really helpful!

I was in smiths today and saw so much I could have bought, but didn't as a) money's a bit tight this week and b) I didn't want to buy loads that would be unused!

Have requested to join the FB group, and will have a look at the home Ed threads for inspiration Smile

Just hope I don't fuck up Confused

you won't let your daughter down.
After all these years of meeting and latterly helping other home ed families, the one thing that is vital is a 'parent' who is interested and involved in the child's education.
Everything else you can learn/do together as you go along!
