Hi I am homevedding my ds who just turned 4 on boxing day. He is doing great really keen to learn his letters we have been playing flash cards and picking out pairs etc. bu he is getting impatient he wants to practice all the time because he wants to read himself. Have you any ideas for activities relating to this? I'm running low on ideas/ games to play and he just keeps asking to practice/play again and again. Thanks

To be honest at that age I believe all they need is reading to.
However when my youngest wanted more we started dipping in and out of The Ordinary Parents Guide to Teaching Reading. It includes some games and activities alongside just dry practice.

have you gotten started on phonics? are you sounding things out? might just be ready to get started with some sounding out and blending.

The starfall website is quite good for games online

We practice reading and writting 3 let word and changing the begining sound
Ie:
Cat
Mat
Bat
Rat
Pat

Or
Top
Mop
Hop

In that respect, The Dr Seuss series is quite good too

We use the montessori crossword ( free app.)
Pretty basic but quite user friendly

I have also gone back to reading baby books (one image/ one word or simple 3 word sentences) as now she can reognise some simple words and we take turns reading them over and over again.
