Is £56 per subject for IGCSE a lot from your experience?

I have just been quoted £56 per subject by an independent school in North London.

This means that I will need to pay £336 in January. Shock

I had expected to pay around £40 - £45 per subject, so you can imagine my surprise.

Is this the going rate? I know that test centres are usually costly.

Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative school in London? Suggestions greatly appreciated.

No, I think that's pretty good. The exam fee is about £35 - £40 which means they are only charging about £15 for all the admin, including invigilation. I know some people who have paid £100 - £200 per subject. I wanted DD1 to do a modular GCSE somewhere new (an exam board that our normal centre doesn't do) and I was quoted £100 per module.

It's appalling IMO that we have to pay anything at all, but I'd grab this with both hands before they change their minds!

That looks a very reasonable charge.

If your DD was in a state school you wouldn't have to pay. Those in private schools all have to pay up.

Pretty good. The cheapest I was asked for at an independent school was £34.50 but I put the application in just over the closing date and had to pay double at £69 which I thought was very good also.

Many of the specialist exam centres charge £150 plus per subject.

The invigilators need to be paid aswell

Thank you all for your feedback. :)

Sounds like I'm onto a good thing then - even with the additional £10 per subject, which is for admin, taking it to a total of £66 per subject.
