DS off nursery today as I didn't fancy blowing away!

Not been too good though. Everyone's fed and dressed, DS has been playing and did a picture, but DD 12wk won't be put down and we've mainly watched dvds. Need inspiration, so what have you done today?

with the pre-school contingent: lots of books; building and playing with train tracks; play dough; taking all the ornaments off the Christmas tree (with parental approval this time, ahem); watching the wind and rain out of the window; eating too many pancakes...

Hi again,

MFM I think we lean towards more autonmous learning, but might struggle with it. By this I mean that we already get a lot of flack for DS not going to nusery so would be really hard to explain that one. Mind you funnily enough the people that critise don´t actually ever want to have an actual conversations about education is, just like to tell me there opinon on how DS will be some sort of left out freak for not being in school at the age of 3. Sorry mild rant over Blush.

Im currently reading a book thats helping me reconsider why I want/started to HE (Its called Raising girls if your interesting, but cant remeber the author). Im glad as its helping strengthen my thoughts and views on it.

As to what we´ve been doing, we´ve started a kind of formal language interchange hour with another family. The other mum is german, so I speak/play with her DC´s (3 and 5 yrs old) in English and she does the same with DS and DD in German (I live in Spain by the way, so English is a second language for them). I love it, as the kids get on really well, they just play and we just speak our respective languages. DS has already picked up some colours.

We´ve also been playing with the big foam number mat, Ill take out the numbers spread them around and ask DS to fill it with me choosing the number.

Hi, can I join?

DD1 is 3 and DH is very keen on preschool, I am not. My brother was HE for all of secondary years after school-refusing so I have seen HE can work. I was a secondary school science teacher, still work in education as a consultant/trainer.

I am doing some HE things with her, numbers and letter games etc, lots of art and cooking, role play playing post offices is her favourite at the moment.

Does anyone have a really good font for imitating handwriting? I have been sticking signs up around the house for common objects (door, fridge etc) but I'm not sure my handwriting script is the best for getting letter shapes, I have my idiosyncrasies.
