My 17 year old son has decided he wants to home educate for his A levels. I am a lone parent who relies heavily on Working Families Tax Credits and Child Tax Credits. I know the law states that to be considered in full time education your child needs to have at least 12 hours supervised tuition a week but can anyone tell me what the implications are for my benefits? i cant seem to find anything on Customs and Excise website.

Hi

I've got stuff about it on my website here edyourself.org/articles/benefits.php

edyourself.org/articles/benefits.php#qualifyp tells you about the criteria for being a "qualifying young person." The regs I'm quoting apply specifically to England. Has he been at college and is now wanting to continue full time education at home? If you get Child Benefit, you can get Child Tax Credit.
