Could Local authorities save money by making redundant all the employees who "monitor" HE?

The Educational Welfare Officers are just a waste of space.

EWOs rarely deal with home educating families except if they have had previous involvement before deregistration.

I have been HE for nearly 6 years and have never had an EWO to visit me,
Get your facts right before you air your grudges on the HE threads - take it somewhere else,

What about "Truancy Sweeps"

EWO's also deal with all issues regarding children who have part time jobs and children who perform in theatre and film, making sure they are kept safe and hours /tutoring time is adhered to.

I have a lot of dealings with ours.
