Cream paint colour

I’ve had an extension built with lots of light coming in, east facing. I want a cream colour paint, more of a warm buttermilk cream, not a cold cream.

Dulux buttermilk 😊 (I have it in north and south facing rooms, works well in both.)

Chat gpt is really good at this. Ask it the same question and ideally add a photo or two of the room and anything you want the colour to “go” with. Eg furniture or curtains

Edited

That looks a bit too yellow for me, I’m looking for cream with a hint of buttermilk!

Ah. Dulux fine cream is a warm cream.

Offcom · 24/04/2026 09:47

I've made the mistake of wanting a warm cream and picking something which turned out to be a pale yellow (rookie error in a north facing room).

Benjamin Moore's got such an amazing range of off-whites. Maybe this? Their app has a visualiser.

Wimborne white from F&B? Might be too yellow.

YessicaHaircut · 24/04/2026 10:10

We used Dulux Summer Linen. We’re happy with it and it’s definitely not yellow. I would say it’s fairly cool in tone though.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 24/04/2026 10:38

We’ve used Dulux Jasmine White, which is warm but still looks ‘cream’ IYSWIM.

Snowie99 · 24/04/2026 11:58

Dulux Crazy Cream is a true cream without yellow or pink hues

Overtheatlantic · 24/04/2026 13:14

I use Dulux almond white in my north facing terraced house. It’s gorgeous and warm.

Farrow and Ball Tallow

LizzieSiddal · 24/04/2026 13:23

Little Greene Clay Mid is lovely. www.littlegreene.com/clay-mid

Farrow and Ball Tallow is a pale cream with no hint of yellow. www.farrow-ball.com/paint/tallow

I have a dupe of F and B Poynting, which I love

HighburyHope · 28/04/2026 23:56

Have a look at Little Greene’s Silent White - Mid. It’s available in their Re:Mix range, too (upcycled from damaged tins etc) which at £28 per 2.5 litres is very good value.

Meredusoleil · 29/04/2026 00:49

Dulux Almond White.

TheOriginalSinclair · 29/04/2026 11:32

Came on here to ask the very same thing!

Renovating a bathroom but thinking whatever we use for woodwork may end up through the house. Victorian terrace, 20+ years ago was (a dupe of) John Oliver Casablanca.

Previous properties used Dulux Orchid White - I like a touch of yellow but that is too much. Have found Jasmine White too cold and Almond White too brown (old gimmer went through a few flats in the 90s)

We are looking at the Dulux heritage colour card and probably going to use their paint to keep costs reasonable as a) it's a bathroom! and b) may end up through the house when we can stretch to a redo. Has anyone tried their Wiltshire White or even their True White? I am allergic to grey (house is lots of reds, greens, yellows) but conscious that the yellowing neutral we currently have looks really outdated.

Thanks in advance and sorry to hijack the thread

We've been going around the houses trying to find a hall and stairwell colour. We use an independent paint shop who have been brilliant. Dulux sell 30ml samples, which you can just roll directly onto paper or the wall- B&Q sell them amongst other places.

BUT- Apparently the factory that make those little samples is in Poland and a different factory to where the actual paint pots are made! You can see a pic below where I'd already bought the roller paint sample, then the darker one is the actual pot. Admittedly one is a roller and the other is with a brush, the colour is quite different, but I'd always recommend buying the actual paint pot tester, not the roller things.

As you can see- we still haven't chosen a colour! If its any help, these are the colours going from top to bottom:
White Almond
Natural Calico
Natural Hessian
Just Walnut
Nutmeg White
Welsh Flint

I'd have a look at Lick White 03 and 05 and F&B Wimborne White

Lonelycrab · 29/04/2026 11:58

F&B James White

Shelleyblueeyes · 29/04/2026 21:55

I have Dulux Egyptian Cotton in my east facing bedroom. First coat looked a bit creamy but second coat and when dried was the perfect off white that I was looking for.

It's teamed with Nutmeg White and whilst I do really like this colour this one definitely has a pinky tinge to it so be careful if that isn't what you want.

Thanks all. I went with Dulux Summer Linen and it’s perfect, no hints of any other colour, looks like the colour I was wanting.
