White interior doors - paining

Need to paint lots of interior doors this weekend. Looking for a nice white matt paint no yellow colouring, and have already sanded the doors.

Can anyone recommend some paint that matches this description please, it would be much appreciated.

Anyone know what type of paint I would need for the door frames, would that not be Matt? I have painted some of these in the past and they end up looking grubby. The pic below is what I’d like it to look like. Thank you!

I think satin or semi-satin is advised for door frames. The problem with white is that there are 5 million variations, and depending on how much natural light you have in a particular room you might use different shades of white. Have you ordered any samples to try?

Oh wait, it’s eggshell that is recommended for door frames.

Hi, yes I’ve tried so many and have just had enough! Just want a nice plain white but also don’t want to balls it up because there are so many doors!

What is the aspect of the front of your house?

Ratbag7 · 15/04/2026 18:43

Sunny in the morning and back of the house gets the sun in the afternoon and evening

Whites have an undertone - green, blue, grey, yellow, pink, taupe.
Does your house have a main colour scheme?
For the finish, satinwood or eggshell, not matt.

Oil based white paint will yellow, use a water based paint. Cleaning brushes with soapy water will be water based.

You want dulux satinwood. It does have a slight sheen so it’s easily cleaned but it’s way more matte than gloss and it’s water based so will never yellow. I’ve put it everywhere and it ages really well. Looks as good now as the day I painted it

another vote for dulux satinwood diamond. It’s hard wearing and has a cool undertone though. Crucial to stick to drying times as indicated so the paint can fully cure before you put the second layer

Another vote for Dulux satinwood! We did all the whitework in our house when we moved in 10 years ago and it still looks good, even in high traffic areas like stairs and on doorways and windowsills. I'm pretty sure we used pure brilliant white throughout.

Thanks for these responses, very much appreciated, Dulux satinwood it is then ! Can I also use it on door frames?

The paint only needs to be dry before applying a second or third coat. You don’t need to leave it to cure, which is good because it takes a week or two to fully cure depending on the temperature etc.

Yes everything. I’ve used it on all woodwork

Thanks, what does cure mean? Sorry for being dim!
