Case recommendations for spring flowers

I always have a bit of a Goldilocks challenge with vases for tulips, daffodils (the sort that come from the supermarket, which always have quite short stems, the £1 a bunch type thing), hyacinths etc. Too big, too small… can anyone suggest a “just right”?

I have bigger vases for larger arrangements, but really struggle with spring flowers. No real budget as I would like something nice. I find the waiting period for spring (or spring that doesn’t feel cold, wet and miserable) so depressing, and having spring flowers in the house gets me through. DH has said it can be a Mother’s Day gift, even if it arrives a tad later. 🌷

Don’t just think about a standard vase. Think of any container- jugs, drinking glasses, metal troughs, ginger jars, soup terrines.

Use items that can help secure your spring flowers. So for example, say you are using a ginger jar- you put twigs or chicken wire inside and this helps hold the stems.

Spring flowers look good split into their groups too. So don’t just think about them as one big arrangement. Use lots of different sized small containers, to show each flower type off. This often works well, because daffodils emit a toxic slime that other flowers dont like anyway.

Garden trading are good for this.

I have a heavy cylinder glass vase from M&S for exactly these flowers and I add glass “stones” from The Range to it to give interest , hold stems and to cope with slightly shorter stems
