Upgrading from ikea but want to go somewhere I can see the furniture not buy online. Can only think of furniture village which is not hugely inspiring. Where else can I go?

Tried Dunelm and the range but the there wasn’t much on display there either

Second hand. Lots available, depending upon your style.

Auctions - go to the viewings beforehand and if in doubt ask for a condition report (e.g. if you're worried about woodworm). I got a lovely antique mahogany chest for £30, which I use as storage and as a coffee table.

Oak Furnitureland has a good selection on show.
I would recommend Cotswold but they have fewer showrooms, depends where you are and how far you are willing to travel.
Don't disregard independents. We have bought some beautiful items from non-chain / non-national retailers, see what you have available in your local & wider areas.

What area are you? Somewhere like Fishpools in Essex is amazing

Vintage furniture warehouses or find the areas for showrooms - in northwest there are lots around Colne worth a day trip.

My Sofas were GPlan ones bought from an independent retailer. Beds and wardrobes were also from an independent retailers. Dining table oak furniture land I bought online but did view it in store. I’ve purchased Barker stone house side tables in home sense a couple of years ago. Which is my favourite place for a lot of things around my house. Curtains I’ve got ready made ones from Dunelm and John Lewis. I avoid online shopping because I want to actually see what I’m spending my hard earn money on.
