Is this lampshade too big for this hallway?

After years of living with some cheap shades from B&M that were meant to be a stop gap when we moved in. I want to get a shade for my downstairs open plan hallway and adjacent dining room, also open plan, so as you come down the stairs both light fixtures would be visible. I have this rattan shade elsewhere in the house and thought I could make it work in this space, it’s 40cm diameter. I’m thinking of getting the matching larger shade for over the dining table. Does this shade look okay in the hallway? Please ignore the mess and clutter in the background! Thanks

It looks great. I thought it was gonna be huge but that’s really not all that big. And with interiors, bigger is nearly always better.

I think it's fine. Don't paint it - it'll look rubbish!

It looks really nice and as it is an open weave it will let the light through . The colour is good , picks up the colour of the stair rail.

We have smaller closer weave lampshades so they look darker .
They trap dust though Wink
