Hello does anyone have this type of sink. If so what do you think about them. Are they durable? Ive never seen this in real life so am just wondering if they are worth it
Any thoughts welcome 🙏

I think it's beautiful but I'm not sure if I'd be brave enough to have one.

I would not mount it on wood but on stone/quartz of some kind. If you have hard water think about the colour of your sink. Not too dark or limescale will show.

Best in guest toilet downstairs.

doitwithlove · 28/01/2026 19:48

it is different

Thanks your reply is very useful. I will see what vanity units i can find online. I only have one bathroom in the house though

I like the colour and the material but I would prefer a more traditional shape.

IamEarthymama · 28/01/2026 22:46

I stay in a cottage (converted pigsty!) every year.
it has a sink like this, though not in such a lovely colour. I love that bathroom, it makes me smile!

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 28/01/2026 22:50

I've worked in a house that had 2 (One rose quartz and the other was black tourmaline I think) and they seemed durable (even with heavy handed kids) but we live In an insanely hard water area and the black one was SO hard to keep looking limescale free but the biggest problem was the outside, it was rough (like a crystal basically!) and you couldn't just run a cloth over the outside to wipe of soap or toothpaste

Not sure if my image posted.

Zov · 28/01/2026 22:51

It's a no from me. I wouldn't want that in my house.

AtIusvue · 28/01/2026 22:53

I think it will date really quickly.

Friendlygingercat · 28/01/2026 22:56

I like vintage so would prefer a Victorian or Edwardian design. I think this is a bit kitsch for me.

Davros · 28/01/2026 23:45

It’s horrible!

UnhappyHobbit · 29/01/2026 10:05

I love these and plan to get one when I re-do my bathroom. I don’t think it would date and to be honest, I couldn’t care less as I love them so much.

TheGirlattheBack · 29/01/2026 10:12

Nope. I’d worry about how to clean it especially if you’re in a hard water area. I bet you need special cleaning products for it and can’t use standard limescale removers.

LibertyLily · 29/01/2026 10:59

Despite liking quirky stuff, I'm not a fan of those - they're a bit weird for my tastes. I didn't like the smooth glass basins that were popular a few years back either.

I prefer something more traditional, but with a maximalist twist. So we've bought a highly decorated London Basin Co basin for our main bathroom. Obviously that wouldn't be for everyone!

In our cloakroom that guests will use, we're having a fairly unexciting basin (Crosswater Popolo), but we're making a statement with wacky wallpaper (Abigail Edwards Briar Owls in green/gold) and gold taps.

Personally I don't care about things dating, so if you love it, go for it @Dumdidums, but I'd be prepared to struggle with keeping it clean.

pilates · 29/01/2026 11:00

I like them but just had a look at the price 😳

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 29/01/2026 11:44

Love it but would be useless in our ensuite with my husband ... water everywhere!

Sweetiedarling7 · 29/01/2026 11:45

It looks like an accident waiting to happen with those edges.

tricksytrin · 29/01/2026 12:25

Horrid, it makes me dizzy looking at it.

Offcom · 29/01/2026 13:43

Probably very boring but when it comes to sanitaryware it’s about durability/easy to keep clean for me. I’d admire it if I visited for sure, but I wouldn’t choose it as my only basin at home

SelbourneIdentity · 29/01/2026 20:57

I think with basins form needs to follow function- the best statement is in how user-friendly they are. I can't abide a basin that isn't broad and deep enough to use without water going everywhere, and the rough stone externally would be forever trapping dust and catching on things. Like @LibertyLily I'd prefer to use a really gorgeous maximalist wallpaper for visual interest, with a white basin that works beautifully but isn't competing for attention.
But with my renovation I might die of old age before reaching bathrooms and cloakroom so it's all hypothetical. Sadly.

mdinbc · 29/01/2026 21:12

Hard no from me. I find any above counter sink or basin is awkward to use. They tend to be mounted too high, so you need to dip your hands in to wash. Then the cleaning around the sink. In a few years you will find grime you can't reach under and between the sink and the wall. There is also more splashing of water onto the wall.

I would go with a really interesting stone backsplash or counter top, with an inset sink.

parietal · 29/01/2026 21:26

More money than sense. Looks like a pretentious hotel. Sorry.

Burntt · 29/01/2026 21:47

They are hard to keep clean on the outside. One of my favourite restaurants has these in the bathroom and they looked great when new but within a year they looked all skummy around the outside. Also know someone who has one in her downstairs toilet, she recently bought the house and during the show round of her beautiful new house she moaned about how hard to keep clean around the base on the outside it was- it didn’t look too bad but this house had stunning kitchen bathrooms and cream carpets the previous owners sold it in such good shape and the sink did kind of stand out as not as well maintained although I’d not have noticed had the new owner not said it was a butch to clean the outside of it.

upstairsdownstairscardboardbox · 29/01/2026 21:50

They are really hard to keep clean and show toothpaste/soap/limescale marks very badly. The water also often bounces out oddly when you turn them on. I worked in a hotel that had loads of slight variations in the rooms and I grew to hate them 😂
I am sure in a perfect house, with one which didn't bounce water out weirdly, it would be lovely but not with my chaotic self.

organisedadmin · 29/01/2026 21:53

@LibertyLily i've wanted one of those basins for years, are they durable, easy to clean?
