Is the expense worth it?

Fitted wardrobes definitely look better, imho, than separates. But I'm not sure about the Hammonds or Sharps type companies. I know someone who has them in two bedrooms. They are big and really dominate the room, even though the house is a little bigger than average. The salesperson will try to fit as many pieces as possible into their design too. Personally, I would go for ones made by a local joiner so I could choose the sizes more easily. And I wouldn't pay for fitting before the things are actually fitted!

i looked at them and they were so expensive. Ended up getting an ikea pax and getting a decorator to make them fitted with coving and colour matching. Did the in my daughters room too.

I have them in three rooms, they’re about 15 years old now, really good quality and well built.

I had some fitted in my room at my parents’ house almost 20 years ago. I told the designer what I needed and he came up with a design we tweaked together, definitely didn’t try and fit as much as possible in. Still looks great and if you move they will refit in the new house for 10% of original cost (or they used to). Mine were Hammons.

Our Hammonds are 10+ years old now and as good as new. They were expensive but we didn't increase the price by having fancy interior fittings, just rails and shelves. The only thing I didn't like was that they decreased the price when we played hard to get and eventually we paid around 50% of the initial quote. I'd rather they just gave you theor best price at the start.
