Hi all, recently taken om a new council flat which desperately needs decorating. Starting with kitchen and living room but unfortunately kitchen is covered in bad grease stains everywhere!
Anyone know how to remove these before painting so that it doesn't come through?
Thanks!

I think you use sugarsoap (from diy place) to wash it down so that paint will key to surface better.

There's an amazing product called Zinsser BIN. It's a primer, sealer and stain blocker in one. Wash the walls, a whole coat of Zinsser, followed by however many coats of your your normal paint and you should be sorted

Once it’s been washed with the products that’s been already suggested you could put lining paper on then paint the walls. Fingers crossed this works for you I hope you’ll be very happy in you new home.

Proper good clean with sugar soap, then Zinsser BIN (few coats) then whatever you want to paint as a top coat has worked for me.

yes to Zinsser it is amazing stuff, it does smell strong though and is very thin when you apply it. Use a small foam roller and then you can paint over it - I would use a matt paint rather than silk as it is more forgiving of rough surfaces.
