Please help me choose paint for a modern, boxy living room that’s looking cold and empty.

my modern boxy living room (currently builder’s white) is looking cold and harsh.

please recommend an eggshell that is a creamy colour with some kind of brown in it for warmth. Can’t be an out and out pink or yellow, but some warmth is needed.

sofa is an olive green and other key pieces are wood, green plants, gold frames, and some white marble.

I hate any greys and mushroom, and am not a magnolia sort of person either.

I am stuck between wanting something gorgeous and not having the confidence to go beyond neutral because it’s hard to imagine and I can’t face getting it wrong.

thank you very much!

If you’ve just moved in then I’m going to go against the grain and say wait to paint the whole room. By all means get some samples and put them around the room but the light that we are getting now is a million miles away from what you will get in May/June and you need to be happy with the paint all year round.

I’d also go with colour matching. Little Greene and F&B have the best neutrals imo but I’ve found the hardest wearing paint to be Dulux trade Diamond Matt. Not cheap but you only need one coat, it goes on like a dream and any marks disappear like they were never there. You can colour match to Little Greene in Dulux decorating centres. If you are going with colour drenching you can then match with a trade eggshell or satinwood. Trade paints are always so much better.

Have fun, I used to be a white box girl but have slowly branched out and now have colour everywhere.

I would recommend looking at dulux heritage range of paints - great quality, beautiful colours and much cheaper than F&B etc. try a brewers centre or dulux decorating centre as the range is much better from there as they will mix the paints for you.
