Shutters for bedrooms

Does anyone have shutters in their bedroom? And if so, do you find they keep out all light? We have them in our living room and I love them and would love to get them for our bedroom and baby’s nursery also as I think they look very smart, the front of the house will be matching, and also it means we can have them half closed whilst getting dressed etc. However my husband thinks they might not block out all light and is concerned they may wake the baby up. Anyone else’s experience would be great. Thanks

Watching as would love to know too!

I do! I have solid ones, rather than ones with slats, because they do a good enough job of keeping the light out for me to sleep in on my days off in summer! The only bits of light that come through are between the panels (i.e. where they fold). An option is to put curtains over them, but I only did that to make the house look more homely and less echoey in rooms that don't have a lot of soft furnishings!

They are a little bit noisy to open, but if your baby is quite a deep sleeper, you'll probably get away with them. Enjoy your darkness 🎃

Yes, I have ones with slats, they keep the room pretty much totally dark I'd say.

We paid extra to have a black out blind fitted behind ours

We have the ones with the slats. They’re not totally blackout but 90% of the way there and we all sleep fine, kids included. Often you get gaps around curtains or blinds if they’re blackout, really it’s not any different

We have remote hidden blackout blinds behind ours

We have had slat type shutters in two houses now and no, they do not shut out 100% of the light.
We match them with thick, heavy blackout curtains for both effectiveness and because we love the look of curtains (we dislike the clean, clinical look of shutters only).
