Hi, I recently got a wall light but it seems like a bit of a faff to have it installed. I don't have any existing wiring for a replacement type job. Is it a pain to get wiring added and will there be damage to the wall afterwards? Starting to wonder what I was thinking.

Your electrician will probably have to lift carpets or flooring to connect the wiring.
S/he might be able to drop the wiring down through the cavity wall and bring it out where you want the light.

If it's not a cavity wall you'll have the option of having the wall chased out (a channel cut in for the wiring to go down - which either you or s/he fill in and decorate over) or have the wire go over the surface of the wall and be covered by trunking.

It'll be a couple of hours work with varying levels of mess from almost nothing to redecorating.

Did you know you can buy rechargeable wall lights now? I have one, you just hang it up on two screws and charge it from a socket when the light begins to dim. Been a game changer for me as I wanted wall mounted bedside lamps but without the faff of electric wiring. If you want to put a picture of your wall light up, I can have a look to see if there's a rechargeable one similar? Here's an example:
