Do you like to have an immaculate house?

Since our children have left home , I have been clearing and sorting things so if anything happens to us, then the house is not the terrible mess / cluttered that my parents and other family has left for us to deal with.
We have emptied our loft and garage .
I feel that I am getting a little obsessed and wanting to clear more things in the house.
I just feel more relaxed if I leave for work and the house is tidy , husband thinks it's a bit over the top.
Does anyone else put their house ' to bed ' at night ?

I would love to have an immaculate house. Alas with 2 children, it regularly looks like I have been battling a poltergeist for 6 days!

😂

I absolutely love a spotless house, but I don't have the time to do it, or the money to pay someone else to do it. I would love to live in a show house if I could, though!

I don't mind having loads of "stuff", so long as it can be put away when not in use.

Today I put my winter weight duvet on the bed, stored the summer one away in a vacuum bag, got out all my winter pyjamas, stored the summer ones away in a vacuum bag, did a big shop, unpacked it all and put it away, hoovered the stairs, hoovered the kitchen (vinyl flooring and long runner) and got up the dust lurking along the side of the fridge and the washing machine, scrubbed the kitchen sink and bathroom basin, scrubbed the toilet, cleaned out some storage jars, cooked tea and washed it up, wiped down all the kitchen worktops and put washed plates and cutlery away. I am knackered I love a clean and tidy house but I hate cleaning and tidying so I am at war with myself

Yes I do. Which would pose a problem as dh is a hoarder., were it not for the fact I throw it all
in his office!

I would love to have an immaculate house - but it's not going to happen but it's got to look reasonably tidy. When ds came back from Uni - he tried to defend his messiness by saying we all had our own standards and mine were too high and I should just accept his. I told him if he wanted to live in a pigsty, he could move out and rent. It took him a while to adjust back to living in a home.

I much prefer having a tidy house. The cushions on the sofas plumped up after they've been squashed by people (dh) sitting on them. Even when we go away I like to have a clean and tidy house. It just makes it so much nicer when we come back home or even just come back downstairs in the morning. Dh really noticed it last time we went away for a few days, and really appreciated it.
It definitely makes for a much more relaxing time when things are clean and tidy. Sadly, it never lasts, the cleanliness and my enthusiasm for doing it, though in age I am getting much better at keeping on top of it to a degree.

I keep thinking about clearing out loads of our old stuff, just so our kids don't have loads to deal with, especially as two are disabled and wouldn't be able to deal with it all, but yet to start on it. Hopefully we still have many years left being early 50s, but you never know
