Do I need a Frame TV?

As I understand it, a Frame TV has a frame around it and when not being used as a TV can have a chosen picture on it.

I'm planning to get a new TV soon, just a 40 inch one on a stand.

Are those of you with a Frame TV glad you bought it?

Yes, I’m pleased with mine.
I don’t watch a huge amount of TV so really enjoy art mode and I really love being able to change the artwork as I wish. I tend to use the movement sensor so it turns on automatically when I enter the room. Some of the art looks amazing displayed on it, I particularly like the ones where you can really see the texture & brush work.

I read a lot of reviews before buying and concluded that while there are better TVs for the money, that I wanted the art mode as I don’t like how TVs can dominate the decor in a room. I also have the Music Frame smart speaker to ramp up the sound quality as I thought a sound bar would ruin the look. Both are comparatively expensive, but in my view worth it if you would prefer the look of art rather than TV when the TV is off.

@Starhaf
Which models do you have and how have you found the picture?
I was looking at these TVs and the reviews suggested that the picture leans dark and movement can be a bit juddery but some models in the range are much better than others. Does this resonate with you?

The reviews suggested the smaller screen sizes were more susceptible to the picture faults. The large screen sizes were pretty much comparable to the better Samsungs that edge into the “best buys” on sites like Which but I don’t want a really massive model. I’m less worried about sound as I use a soundbar.

Also interested in how flexible the art work is - can you upload your own pictures?

Yes, you can upload your own pictures. We have loads of holiday photos on ours. They rotate every three minutes and you can add/delete at any time.

Thank you.

How do you find the picture quality for light/dark and smooth movement? And would you share which model you have?

I’ve seen them set up in shops but the demo models are always the huge versions and the reviews I’ve read give quite different technical results for the picture on smaller models vs large models.

I’m torn as I want decent picture quality but don’t really want a big chunk of “grey space” in the room. Sound is a lower priority as I use a soundbar so could work around that.

No issues with the picture quality at all (after 10 years abroad with dodgy satellite reception and interference every time there was the hint of a storm I may have a low bar though!)

Not sure what model it is - I'll have a root around for the user manual.

I cant find the model number on it but mine is the 50inch screen and was bought in April this year. No problems experienced with the picture at all

Thank you (and for the pic). Its the 50 (2025 model) that I’m looking at.

Basically if its as good as the other Samsungs but slightly pricier I’m fine with that - its worth it to me not have the big grey space. It was just some of the comments about juddery picture on the smaller models that worried me and the only demo versions I’ve found in shops have been the really huge screens (85”?).

I do like the notion that I cound hang a (fake) Rothko on my wall 😁
