Binding for seagrass runner

I have a large piece of seagrass carpet that I'd like to re purpose as a runner for entrance hall .
I'm not sufficiently skilled to fit it to the skirting boards ( and the carpet fitters Ive asked won't touch it "it'll look messy" ) and I'm thinking of binding the edges with something like gaffer tape but for carpets .
All my searches throw up a plastic lipped trim with bad reviews or double sided tape .
can anyone help ?

I can’t. I looked for similar for ages but didn’t find anything. Thought about hot glue gunning some wide bias binding but haven’t got around to trying. Hopefully someone else will have a bright idea 💡

Carpet webbing or binding tape for carpet? There are several online suppliers of this. It's what they use on jute/similar runners/rugs. I'm not sure how you'd attach it, or how successful it would be, but assume a hot glue gun might work.

I considered doing this myself as we had some Roger Oates flat weave offcuts from the staircase at a previous house, but never tried in the end. I did once use supposedly extra strength double sided tape on a piece of normal carpet but that was a spectacular fail, which is probably why I never bothered with the flat weave carpet!

Actually that link is also advertising canvas binding application. I don’t think this is a DIY job.

I think it will be very difficult to do successfully at home. I agree about asking at a local carpet shop.

The only alternative I can think of would be to get a heavy leather working needle and some sort of punch and a woven binding. But I think that will be a right job and wouldn't be one I would fancy taking on.

thank you everyone .I've bought a fair bit of carpet from a local shop but they're not keen to whip it because of the material, jute or seagrass .The latter I think .
I may have to give it best!
