Two bathrooms to upgrade/where to start?

Hi,

Im planning to update my two bathrooms, one has a bath, one a shower. They haven't really been touched since we purchased the home around 25 years ago. However they look ok, just a bit dated. We had some leaks and so it made sense to do both whilst we had the finances.

I have a builder in place but I feel like im so not creative in any way so I havent got anything in mind. I love the idea of white and navy, with gold fittings. Current bathroom 1 has full length fitted bath, a big old giant sink, maroon tiles. 2nd bathroom is peach with a tiny shower unit . Ill have to do pics later but any tips on where to start.

I would do an image search and save down some pics of the sort of bathrooms that you like for inspiration.
Then measure up the rooms and draw a plan out so you can see if there is a better way to fit the things in that you want.

Very similar situation, although we did the majority of the work ourselves and haven't yet done the main bathroom.

I went to bathroom showrooms, just to look at their sets etc and get some ideas.

Measured carefully and drew out of squared paper, and also used online planners - Victorian Plumbing has an easy one.

This is a great facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/207719122116508/?ref=share.
Loads of pictures, ideas and some really helpful professionals.

Go to a big bathroom place and browse.

most will also help you design, at least the layout. They’ll have display bathrooms as well for inspiration.

have you spoken to your builder? Many will work with a certain supplier and often get you trade discount. Mine told me where to go and who to ask for.

you will probably find your design choice is limited by availability, and as with everything it will be driven by fashions. When I went a few years ago grey was still in, so the vast majority was neutral greys and stone.

if you aren’t planning on selling within the next 5-10 years crack on with whatever choice you like. If you are though, gold and navy would not be many people’s choice and I’d go more neutral.

Oh and eta we found getting both bathrooms done at once a great decision. It meant the fitter could schedule everything efficiently, yet we were never without a toilet or shower. But they only had to get one skip, the tiler did everything to fit his work plan, and when there was an emergency - someone needed a wet room doing asap for their disabled child -they were able to take a couple of days to do that for them without leaving us with no facilities and only a minor delay.
