He’s currently 1 year old so still in cot but open to idea of Montessori bed. We are unsure whether to get chest of drawers and wardrobe or just one or other?

Any ideas or photos would be most appreciated. It’s tiny but I’d love to make it lovely for him!!

Does he have a lot of clothes? I'm child free so not sure how much storage a young child would need but I imagine not much as they are very small clothes. Prepared to be completely wrong though!
In a small room I think a rail for quickly grabbing what's needed and setting out a few outfits for the day or a couple of days would be useful, probably drawers for clothes storage, and then something else for books and toys?

Do you need to store his clothes in his room? My daughter's clothes are in a chest of draws in the lounge, for example.

When dd was young she had a bed down one wall with cork boards stuck above and sit on type toy boxes with book shelves a bit above on the other wall. Baskets for clothes were under the bed.

I would go for a toddler bed that’s got inbuilt storage for clothes, a bookcase that doubles as a bedside table and maybe a beanbag style seat if there’s space - somewhere comfy for grownups to sit at bedtime is always a plus but might be hard to fit an armchair into that size room. I’ve noticed little kids (at least the one I know) always sleep better in box rooms. Personally wouldn’t spend too much on the toddler bed, then move onto a midsleeper when he’d old enough and that gives more storage options with all the space under. https://www.argos.co.uk/product/1873834

DD2 (16months) is currently in a room that is 1.9m x 1.4m. We have a cot with drawers underneath, a kallax unit for bedding, sleepsacks, muslins etc, an ikea poang chair and a few toys / books in a caddy type thing. We cleared two drawers in our room for her clothes and then we do getting ready for bed / nappy changes in our room. She plays either downstairs or in her sisters bedroom. She will eventually have a much bigger room but our 3rd proper bedroom is on a different level and I wanted us all to all be on the same level while shes still so little.

19 month old has a tiny room, with a hot water tank (so a chunk of the room removed). We’ve put a small double mattress on the floor (which goes to the cupboard housing the tank) and that just fits the width. It means he can’t roll out of bed (this drove us insane with the older one who would roll despite cot bed style bed). We roll up the duvet and pillow into a basket in the morning allowing him full use of the mattress as a soft floor to play on etc. We also have a wall attached book shelf for books. We’ve just removed hard toys as it was too painful to walk on (hello play mobile), so now his room is soft toys, books and an alexa. There is a wardrobe is the room but we’ve not added his clothes as nappy table, abandoned cot, and clothes are still in our room.

Can I suggest that you change the room door to one that opens out? Or a sliding door if that’s possible?

Then, Montessori style bed (not keen on a mattress on the floor due to lack of airflow under it etc.

Keep clothes and other accessories in another room.

Sounds like a potentially cosy bedroom 😊

I wouldn't bother with a wardrobe. Little kids clothes can all be stored in drawers or baskets on shelves.
