Which emulsion genuinely covers in one coat?

I don't have much energy so would like to emulsion my walls in one coat. Is this feasible? Are dark colours more difficult to do in one coat than light? I'll be painting over pale grey emulsion and would ideally like a darkish F&B style colour but prepared to compromise for easy application.

I read the F&B Experiment and noted 3 coats were needed with some. I just couldn't!

Definitely not F&B, it’s one of the thinner premium paints IME

Little Greene and Paint & Paper Library are much better. I still think you’d need 2 coats though, especially if going much darker or lighter.

Unless you are using an spray, will be virtually impossible to get away with just one coat.

I’ve never found one that genuinely does one coat. Possibly if you are doing a very very similar colour but even then I think you will see spots where the roller has missed first time.

Little Greene paint dries quickly in my experience which means you can finish a small to medium room in one day rather than having to wait overnight to re-coat so that might help if you want to get it over and done quickly but it won’t cut down the effort much.

In my experience, none of them if using a roller.

I have a spray, and as @MH0084 suggests, it is possible to have a single coat, but even with the spray two coats are better. The spray makes it so much easier though. Admittedly, the time spent masking up is longer, but the spray time is so much faster (think 15 to 20 minutes for a 3m square room). Additionally, if I'm rolling, the last bit I do is worse than the first bit as I get tired, but this doesn't happen with the spray as it is so much quicker, thus the end result is loads better.

I wouldn’t even try - you WILL be disappointed.

Just use 2 coats of Dulux Trade. It’s what most professionals use.
