What should I do about this rough casting?

i would be grateful for any thoughts on this.

currently having an extension built. I have two children under 2 and a husband sitting exams so I struggle to think straight.

We live in Scotland. My builder persuaded me that the best way to match into existing bricks was to use buff roughcast above a previous extension and then suggested using this for the gable ends as well.

it was only done this morning but I am having a lots of doubts.

i don’t know if I should wait to see what it looks likes in a week, paint over it in a buff paint or ask them to render on top?

the building work has already gone on a long time and I don’t want to fall out with the builders

What should I do about this rough casting?

Is the rest of the house that beautiful stone?

The rest of the house is sandstone. There was a side extension added in the 90s. The bricks have weathered in but they look different to the main house. Unfortunately it was not possible to get stone like the main house or like the ones below so the builder suggested buff roughcast to try to blend in. It isn’t even dry to be fair but I am struggling with it. I wonder if render would be better.

The original sandstone could really do with a clean which I think makes it look worse as it’s so new.

I know it's probably too late but I think brick would have been way better than adding a third material.
Painting it will only make it look more obvious.

Leave it for now - the colour will mute as it ages and is likely to blend in more with the original house finish.
Its not ugly as it is.

Thankfully the builders think it looks awful and are taking it off on Monday. We live in a conservation area so it’s probably not allowed anyway. Phew!
