Best Flooring for Living Room?

Looking to replace my living room carpet.
It's currently a wool fitted carpet, fitted by previous residents and it has been very comfortable and luxurious. It shrugs off stains, has a good thick underlay.
But sadly coming to the end of its life - moths are winning the battle despite frequent cleaning and spraying.
I also have moth attack in another carpeted room so very reluctant to buy aother wool carpet.
I am not a fan of hard flooring, I live in Scotland and my home isn't the warmest.
I also spend a lot of time sitting on the floor, it's my comfy place.

I know there are lots of options- not sure what would fit my need.
Any suggestions?

Could you just have your floorboard's and a massive rug? We have this in our bedroom and as it’s real wood it’s actually quite warm

No floorboards unfortunately- just ugly wooden panels.

Whispers quietly (as this is Mumsnet) we have laminate, dogs, makes life easier. It's not cold, comes in an amazing range of colours and styles now. Would have liked engineered wood, but it was too deep,DH had removed as much off the doors as was possible.

Thanks, I would consider laminate- I have it in other areas of my home, just seems a bit cold.
I was thinking of tatami, seagrass, bamboo- not sure if they will be attacked by carpet munching bugs.
The room is quite large, so perhaps some of these would be v expensive?

I've had seagrass,it's hard and rough to sit on, and the dirt goes through it.

Seagrass is horrid

Maybe look at the Westex Silken Velvet carpets? 100% nylon, so won’t become dinner for moths, and meant to be decent quality and really soft.

Otherwise I notice that the LVT I put in the bathroom feels noticeably warmer under foot than the laminate flooring.
