Silk Bedding?

I am very tempted by silk bedding, but have heard different things about it's temperature regulating abilities. I always thought it was supposed to keep cool even in summer, but I've seen reviews of people saying it's turned them into a sweaty mess. As I'm peri I really don't need any help at all turning into a sweaty mess, and am looking for something to keep me cool and dry. Does anyone have any personal experience, especially anyone who's also a bit naturally toasty at night?

I had a silk pillowcase as I wanted to try this out before taking the plunge and ordering a full set. I'm glad I did. It turned me into a sticky mess and my face and scalp sweated so much on the silk pillowcase. I opted for pure cotton with a high thread count in the end, as I read that 100% cotton was the best for temperature regulation.

That's a good idea, I'll try that. Cotton probably seems the simplest choice, but silk's supposed to also be the best for skin and hair. But I imagine if I get all sweaty every night I'll just get spots anyway, so any skin benefits will be cancelled out! I have linen at the moment and absolutely love it, but apparently that's the worst for skin :(

I hate washing even my silk pillowcase. Such a stress you’ll damage it

I have a pure silk pillowcase and love it, no problems with overheating. But another family member says theirs make their hair static. I would avoid for sheets though because pure silk is so delicate. It requires a special washing liquid and delicate wash cycle. I much prefer pure linen sheets and duvet cover - feels luxurious, brilliant for temperature regulation and more hardwearing

Thanks all. Maybe didn't really think it though, I don't think I'm keen to start handwashing all my bedding! I will give the pillowcase a go, and maybe just use that with my linen.

I have silk pillow cases, pure linen bedding and then a pure silk throw

this caters for all menopausal needs 🤣

JL silk pillowcases go through my usual bedding 60’c wash with non bio powder. I put in a laundry net to avoid tearing. I have tried other brands but they don’t last as long.
but the silk shows every mark. I wear thick night cream and this marks the pillowcase so I wash every couple of nights.
