Criss cross window or clear glazing for mock Tudor house?

Hi everyone, I’m upgrading my windows from single to double glazing and considering removing the black lead criss-cross pattern. I prefer a clear view from inside, but I’m unsure if it would suit my Tudor-style house. It’s not required by regulations in my area—I’ve checked.

Would love to hear your thoughts.
Thank you.

It comes to my surprise that my architect, who designed the whole renovation project for us, decided to go for clear glass :) Yeeeeeey! 💃

I’m sure the Architect followed your preferences - not sure it will look great though. Our neighbours did this and the house looks modernised, not renovated. There’s a difference.

What a thoughtful opinion to share!

@DuchessDandelion It’s standard for an architect to follow the instructions of the client. She wanted plain windows and she’s got them. It’s debatable that this modernisation will look great.

Agree with @TizerorFizz, I don’t think it’ll look great and would impact value/saleability of the house.

We have a 1930s mock Tudor semi and leaded windows are a must. It'll look bland and wrong to have the black and white with plain windows. Trust me on this.
