Floral wall tiles in kitchen?

I need opinions on wall tile for our new n kitchen. Cabinets are alabaster, flooring and worktop is oak, walls are white. We are looking at this floral patterned tile, but I'm not sure if it's too much?

We could break it up by adding plain tiles too but no idea how to arrange them.

Any thoughts?

You don’t have to be a florist to fall in love with these delicate wall tiles - it’s so easy to imagine them as a pretty splashback. And with their beautiful...

Very pretty but a bit old fashioned. I imagine you might tire of them fairly quickly.

tiles and tiling are expensive…….. keep it simple would be my suggestion.

Lindy2 · 15/05/2025 13:20

I really like this.

It's quite classic in my options. It won't necessarily ever be "on trend" but I actually think that's a good thing.

Geneticsbunny · 15/05/2025 13:23

I like them and I don't think they are old fashioned at all.

Lindy2 · 15/05/2025 13:23

I wouldn't break them up with plain. I'd just put them together like on the sales website.

I'm assuming it's just a run of them between the wall units and work surface though rather than a massive area.

TennesseeStella · 15/05/2025 13:25

It's a bit 90s. I am just about to paint over floral tiles in my kitchen.

Davros · 15/05/2025 13:29

Lovely

OP, I don’t have any tiles in my kitchen, and the kitchen designer, although surprised, said that actually, it was not a bad thing as “tiles are the single most dating thing about a kitchen”. If you are going to live in your house for a long time, then go ahead: have what you like. If, on the other hand, you are thinking that you might be moving in, say, the next ten years, you might be better advised to get something more “neutral”, as they might put off a potential buyer.

Ketzele · 15/05/2025 13:30

I think floral tiles are on the cusp of coming back in again, so no I don't see these as old fashioned. I think you need to go for it, though, look committed. So don't break it up with plain tile - THAT looks 90s. I would also paint wall or cabinets in quite a punchtly colour, avoid neutrals. It's got to look deliberate, not half-hearted.

WildCherryBlossom · 15/05/2025 13:32

I prefer the florals all together rather than broken up with plain. Your kitchen sounds very neutral so I think it would work very well to add some pattern and colour. If you were doing it up to re-sell or rent then neutral would be best, but if you are planning to be there for a while go for something you love!

LibertyLily · 15/05/2025 13:53

I don't think they're remotely old fashioned! They're on trend yet fairly classical, imho. For inspiration, look at Sophie Robinson's kitchen...although her floral walls are wallpaper.

Definitely don't break them up by adding plain tiles as that would look dated.

I'd also agree to go with a punchy colour on your walls or cabinets as suggested by @Ketzele.

We haven't used tiles in a kitchen since our last-but-two house in 2012, but if I was going to (and coincidentally we did consider floral tiles - but much larger format - in our current house where we're in the process of doing the kitchen), I'd definitely choose something I loved rather than playing safe with a neutral.

Piratejenny99 · 15/05/2025 14:20

I think they are lovely and not old fashioned but as others have said I wouldn't break them up with plain tiles - I think that would make a more dated look.

bridgetreilly · 18/05/2025 18:58

Love them. Definitely don’t break them up - that is what looks so dated now.

excelledyourself · 18/05/2025 22:35

I love these!

JennyForeigner · 18/05/2025 22:49

I am the least floral person ever but these are pretty. Temptingly pretty tbf. No breaking them up though, lean into it.

salemtileror · 07/06/2025 06:51

Love the idea of floral wall tiles in the kitchen! They add such a fresh and cheerful vibe without being overwhelming. Maybe try mixing them with some plain tiles to keep it balanced.

JaninaDuszejko · 07/06/2025 07:06

I think your plan for everything else being fairly neutral and then having these very pretty tiles will look lovely and definitely not be 'too much'. Unlike others I wouldn't have a 'punchy' cupboard colour because I would find that too much with these tiles, that's about my personal taste though, I know maximalism is getting very popular. And don't worry about the mythical next owner, it's your house, decorate it in a way that you love.

JaninaDuszejko · 07/06/2025 07:08

And definitely don't break them up with plain tiles, everything else is plain, let the tiles sing.

RedBeech · 07/06/2025 08:30

They're gorgeous, and the overall design sounds great- stylish and individual, not following a trend. I can visualise it and am a bit envious!

NegroniMacaroni · 07/06/2025 08:35

I think they're pretty! To make it easier to visualise you can buy 10-12 of the same tile in advance and stick them to the wall with blue tack.

fruitbrewhaha · 07/06/2025 08:38

They are lovely. Go for it.

DisforDarkChocolate · 07/06/2025 08:42

I have these bookmarked for my kitchen, in the end we painted the wall a soft sandy yellow. The tiles are beautiful.

The reason we didn't tile is because we ended up with an upstand. My husband like this this look, it's not my favourite but he was happy to have a pink kitchen so I went with it.

LyraSky · 20/01/2026 20:46

Did you go for it in the end OP? I'm considering a very similar tile (same range but autumn colours) but struggling to visualise it.
