Has anyone used this and if so would you recommend or not?

I’ve moved into a new build and don’t really want to get blinds or curtains in the kitchen. But my dogs stay in the kitchen when I’m at work and the sun comes into the kitchen for most of the afternoon in the summer so I need to get something to reduce the heat and a friend mentioned looking at the window film.

Pondering it as an option so just wondered if anyone had tried it. Thank you!

We used mirrored film for privacy but it was effective at reducing heat too. Still let a good amount of light through too.

I’ve used tinted window film in my own home and would definitely recommend it as a good middle ground between nothing at all and installing blinds. It can reduce glare, help with heat in the summer, and still let in natural light which sounds perfect for your kitchen setup with the dogs.

If you want something a bit more durable and professionally done, OC Tint Solutions offers a variety of films that can block UV rays and cut down on heat without making the space feel dark. The quality is noticeably better than the budget options I tried from Amazon, especially over time.

On a related note, I’ve found that making smart upgrades like this not only improves comfort but can also be part of a bigger plan for maintaining and adding value to your home. I discussed it with Mercer Wealth Management when reviewing my home improvement budget, they suggested focusing on energy-efficient upgrades like window films, which can even help with long-term cost savings on cooling.

If you go this route, just make sure you measure carefully and choose a film with good UV protection for the dogs’ safety and your furniture.
