Help please! DPM below click-clack floor in kitchen

Hi all, had some click-clack floor fitted https://woodpeckerflooring.co.uk/range/wood-design-flooring/ in the kitchen. No DPM was used. It was put above old tile and has a built in underlay.

The previous floor was very cheap vinyl and had no moisture issues. Do you think this floor will be ok or should I pay to take
up, put in DPM and a screed? Been massively let down by tradespeople so not keen on getting someone else out to be honest, but don’t want to have damage.

How old is the house? It might have a DPM already under the tiles. why do you think you'd need a DPM on top of tiles?

Geneticsbunny · 14/03/2025 08:13

If the house doesn't have a dmp then putting one in could cause issues with damp coming up the walls.
I would be careful and read up on damp and old houses before you do anything which could be difficult to reverse.

As @OttersAreMySpiritAnimal says, there might well be a dpm under the tiles. Unless they are something like original Victorian terracotta. If not, and as you say there were no issues previously, I wouldn’t sweat it.

Thanks so much! It’s in an extension built in the 60s/70s so not sure if one already there. Seems okay at the moment so will leave for now :)

So build regs existed 60/70s, likely there's a DPM under the tiles. If the tiles weren't loose then there's not likely any damp reaching them, otherwise the tiles adhesive would deteriorated over time a tiles would be loose.
