Pictures on wall in bathroom

We are redoing the family bathroom. It's mainly for teenage DS and occasional guest.

We have one blank 2m wall. The toilet is on the nearby wall and the door opens onto it so there isn't really room for shelving or a cabinet or anything.

I was going to put some pictures on the wall but DH is complaining that they will get ruined by the steam.

Are there cheap frames that won't get ruined?

I don't want anything involving puns around toilets/washing or an of the other 'animals on toilets' bathroom art I seem to get when this is suggested.

Maybe Wall decal? but are there any nice ones that aren't either childish or naff.

I've got a picture on the wall in my (downstairs, no window) bathroom and it hasn't been ruined. It has only been up for a couple of years though.

I think you could go to The Range and get a bunch of cheap frames, go to somewhere like Desenio and order some cheap prints and they would be fine. Or print out some photographs! If you've got the originals online then if one set get a bit steamed it won't matter. Just don't spend a fortune, then if steam does get in them you can always get rid of those and get some new ones in.

I have framed prints/postcards in my main bathroom. All in Ikea frames (they used to be called Ribba, I think the new version is rodalm?) They’ve been there two or three years, and the bathroom is used for showering daily and they’re fine.

We've just changed some pictures that got damaged by steam but they'd been up for years so it was time for a change.

We have a colourful metal turtle creature that's wall mounted - from The Range I believe - that is still going strong and just needs wiping every so often. Those canvas type pictures that are frameless also do very well in bathrooms as ours have also lasted years in one bathroom extremely well too.

You could buy some second hand art on ebay or the like. I think that cheap frames are more likely to be damaged by the moisture than better quality frames but if you get secondhand you'll get your frame much cheaper.

I've always hung pics in the bathroom and they're fine. Your DH is being a bit over cautious.

Just don't hang any priceless works of art and you'll be grand.

We have framed postcards in our bathroom, no issues at all.

Being in Canada, bears feature heavily in wildlife photos here. I have this printed on metal in my bathroom: brandontbrown.com/collections/all/products/winters-bath-1

I’m contemplating also getting this one. The photographer is a neighbour.

I have frames in my bathroom and it's fine

Ikea do a frame range called lomviken which is aluminium. These might mean the frames to last longer than wood and still very cheap.

I wouldn't spend £100s on art to put in a bathroom but I have 3 prints that probably cost around £100 in total and are fine after a few years. Completely personal taste as to what you get but you could look at prints and posters sold by museums and galleries if you don't want generic stuff from a homeware shop but don't want to spend a fortune.

Not had an issue with prints hung in bathroom. Have had an issue with the back of a framed print starting to get mouldy when hung on an interior wall that was on the exterior of the house. It only affected one picture.
